Specs Hardware Extends the Assistant Into AR

Specs are see-through augmented-reality glasses with computing hardware built into the frames and an operating system designed for hand and voice control. The glasses cost $2,195, while a $2,395 package adds a charging case with cellular connectivity and four additional charges.

 

Snap expects shipping to begin later this fall in the United States, United Kingdom and France. A public demonstration location is scheduled to open at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles on October 1, giving potential buyers an opportunity to try the hardware before ordering.

 

The company says Specs do not use facial recognition to identify people and do not continuously record or save audio, video or photographs. Salesforce plans to bring Agentforce access to the glasses, allowing employees to retrieve company information and automate tasks. Nvidia technology is intended to help interpret a worker's visual environment, while AWS will provide voice-driven assistance for jobs such as checking product availability.

 

Financial terms for the partnerships were not disclosed. The commercial test is whether the glasses and assistant can save enough time in real workflows to justify their price, deployment support and security requirements.

 

Specs Intelligence therefore launches as both a personal assistant and the coordination layer for Snap's computing platform.
