Anthropic Launches Claude for Financial Advisors
Claude for Financial Advisors launched on September 14 as Anthropic’s purpose-built system for wealth-management firms, connecting its assistant to custodial records, portfolio platforms, planning tools and customer-relationship software. The product is available now as a plugin for Claude Cowork and Claude Code.
The launch combines three layers for advisory firms:
- Connectors to custodians, portfolio systems, CRMs and planning software
- Ready-made skills for preparation, analysis, documentation and follow-up
- Approval steps and audit trails for regulated work
Claude for Financial Advisors Connects the Wealth Stack
Anthropic describes the product as a suite of connectors and workflow skills for the research, preparation and documentation surrounding client meetings. Instead of requiring an adviser to gather records from several systems, Claude can assemble context from the tools the firm has authorized.
The initial ecosystem spans Addepar, BlackRock, Charles Schwab, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, Vanguard and Zocks. Each connection serves a different part of the stack, from custodial balances and transactions to alternative investments, estate records and meeting history.
Schwab’s connector can expose approved custodial data such as balances, positions, transactions, cost basis, alerts and money-movement status. BlackRock contributes portfolio-construction resources and institutional analytics through Advisor Center, while Addepar brings governed portfolio data across public and private markets.
The product also works alongside existing Claude connections to Microsoft 365, Salesforce, DocuSign, Box, FactSet, S&P Global and Morningstar. That breadth is central to Anthropic’s pitch: the assistant operates across an adviser’s existing systems instead of becoming another isolated dashboard.
Eight Skills Cover an Adviser’s Working Day
The plugin includes eight workflow skills that firms can use as supplied or adapt to their service model and internal style. They cover adviser onboarding, alternative-investment briefs, compliance and AI policy, estate and tax briefs, portfolio-rebalance reviews, post-meeting follow-up, pre-meeting preparation and prospect intake.
A pre-meeting brief can consolidate holdings, recent account activity and open tasks from prior meetings. After a meeting, Claude can turn a transcript into a client summary, a draft recap email and CRM tasks, leaving the adviser to review the work before anything reaches a client.
Portfolio workflows can flag drift, concentration and potential tax-loss-harvesting opportunities against a client’s target allocation. Estate and tax workflows can compare planning documents with account titling and beneficiary data, then surface mismatches for professional review rather than treating the model’s output as a final determination.

Anthropic Builds Human Review Into Regulated Workflows
Anthropic says investment recommendations, client communications, compliance decisions and other regulated activities remain subject to human review and approval. Claude prepares briefs and draft analyses, while administrative actions such as CRM updates or client communications are staged for an adviser to approve.
The compliance skill screens client-facing language against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Marketing Rule based on criteria configured by the firm. It can also document review activities and support an internal AI-policy process, giving compliance teams a record of how the technology was used.
Anthropic recommends Enterprise plans for registered investment advisers because they include audit logs intended to support recordkeeping. That distinction matters: the value of a cross-system agent depends on permissions, traceability and clear responsibility when it works with sensitive financial and personal information.
The company’s official announcement says advisers choose which supported services to connect during guided setup. Firms still need to decide what data Claude can access, which actions require approval and how outputs are checked against source records.
Anthropic and OpenAI Target Different Finance Workflows
The release arrives days after OpenAI introduced ChatGPT for financial services, aimed at investment bankers and equity researchers. Anthropic is focusing this launch on registered investment advisers and wealth-management teams, where client context is spread across custodians, planning tools, portfolios, CRMs and communication systems.
That difference shows how enterprise AI competition is shifting from general-purpose chat toward packaged workflows. Model quality remains important, but deployment increasingly depends on secure data connections, industry-specific procedures and controls that fit existing compliance responsibilities.
Reuters independently confirmed the launch and its integrations with BlackRock, Schwab, Addepar and other wealth-technology providers. Anthropic says the adviser plugin is available today, while firms without an Enterprise licence can request access through its sales process.
The immediate test will be whether the integrations reduce preparation and documentation time without weakening review quality. For advisory firms, the useful benchmark will not be how fluently Claude discusses markets, but whether every recommendation, figure and client communication can be traced, checked and approved within the firm’s existing controls.
